2013 Spring Junior Retreat

NIGHT ONE: And so the journey of the last Junior Retreat for the 2012-2013 school year has began... and man has it been great so far! We've really got a dynamic group here with us this time (for anyone who doesn't know, we take 1/3 of the junior class on a Christian Awakening retreat three different times through out the school year so by the end of the year, the entire junior class has gotten to take a week away from the hardships of everyday life and spend some time really getting to reflect on themselves and strengthening their relationship with our beloved LORD). We started off the retreat with a ice breaker game and a great talk on purpose of why we are here from one of our senior leaders, Carl. Shortly after we heard from Carl, we broke out into our small groups for the first time and got to know our groups. Then we didn't waste any time, we dove right in to Mrs. Horn's journey talk and boy was this powerful! She talked about different road blocks in life, piles of rock or brick walls, times when she was on open roads or lost in a desert. Times she has been on mountains and times when she was in meadows. After this, our kids got a chance to think back on their own lives and figure out what might have been some of their harder times and what might have been some of their great times. Most importantly, where they think they are right now in their walk with God. For our small group, we figured out that we are all at points where we want to walk with God closer and have that personal relationship, but sometimes we don't know where to turn to or how to get there. Little do they know... through out the rest of this retreat, they will be shown some different ways to turn to God and with hopeful prayer, the Holy Spirit will work in these kids...
